Collaborative scientific assessments
It's been an honor to work collaboratively with scientists on various reports assessing emerging technologies and the policy landscape — including as a committee member with the US National Academies of Sciences, and as a contributing author to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
Scientific advisory boards & editorial work
I am currently advising the following scientific research projects, organizations and companies. This means I give them free advice because I care about their mission.
I am also a standing committee member of the National Academies of Sciences Gulf Scholars Program, which supports colleges and universities in the Gulf of Mexico region to prepare undergrads to address critical interdisciplinary challenges in resilience, energy, and environmental protection.
Currently, I'm on the Executive Editorial Board of Environmental Research: Energy, an open access journal published by IOPscience. Send in multidisciplinary work on energy resilience, access, technologies, justice, and security!
I'm also an Associate Editor of Dialogues on Climate Change, published by Sage, which aims to foster constructive dialogue on climate change.
- CDRMare and CDRTerra. These are scientific research projects funded by the German government that explore carbon removal, with a focus on science for society.
- The Leverhulme Center for Climate Change Mitigation, at the University of Sheffield. This is a major research effort focused on enhanced rock weathering to draw down CO2.
- SRM360. This is a nonprofit knowledge hub that explores the science and evidence behind sunlight reflection methods, or solar radiation management.
- The Alliance for Just Deliberation on Solar Geoengineering. This is a nonprofit aimed at building governance capacity, policy engagement, regional collaboration, and inclusive conversations on solar geoengineering, without advocating for or against its use.
- Equatic. This is a for-profit company that uses seawater electrolysis to couple carbon removal and clean hydrogen production.
